December is here, therefore it’s time to get your Christmas ornaments out! We all have our forever favorites but you can make this year especially meaningful by putting together a few of your own ornaments before Santa comes down the chimney!

While simple to make, you can create beautiful ornaments using Scrabble letters. Try combinations like LET IT SNOW / JINGLE BELLS / CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS or almost anything festive that you can think of! Firstly, stick each letter together to form a word using some multipurpose glue. Then, layer the words one on top of the other and use glue to fix them in place. Then, tie a beautiful bow and stick it to the center top and attach a string to the back of the ornament to use as a hanger. Finally, using some spray snow, decorate the letters with wintery cheer.

2. Quilling art

These beautiful pieces are mesmerizing to look at and you can make just about anything including bells, wreaths, snowflakes, reindeer, or even Santa! You’ll need some special materials including a quilling wand and paper as well as some practice but once you get the hang of it you are sure to create incredible art. Additionally, use glue and a toothpick for added precision to stick things in place.

3. Mini trees

You’ll need an assortment of ribbon for these cute ornaments as well as a few small, fairly straight twigs that you can pick up on a nature walk. Using a simple knot, tie ribbons onto the twig, working your way down from the top with short to long ribbons, stopping to leave enough of the twig to represent a tree trunk at the bottom. Be sure to center the ribbon so that you end up with a triangular shape. Once finished, tie a bow to the top and stick some string to the back to hang the ornament.

4. Glitter pine cones

These glitter pine cones will light up your tree like nothing else! Collect a few pine cones and firstly tie a ribbon or string to either end. Then, coat them in glue and sprinkle glitter all over them! Especially relevant, be sure to use a newspaper to catch all the excess glitter to keep cleaning to a minimum. A less messy alternative is to use glitter paint to coat nature’s ornaments.

5. Magical mittens

We’re sure you’ve probably lost a mitten or glove somewhere along the years. Consequently, re-purpose what’s left into tree ornaments! Simply sew on a string to hang the mitten from and add sequins, buttons or ribbon for extra color!
